Rescue Para-Sports Group petitions Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports

The Rescue Para-Sports Group has taken a proactive step by petitioning the Parliamentary Select Committee on to address pressing issues affecting para-sports in Ghana.

Scores of para-athletes, officials, and disability sports enthusiasts congregated at to raise concerns regarding several aspects, including the Sports Act, abuse of disabled athletes, and alleged disregard for the para-sports constitution.

Among the grievances highlighted was the management of Para Sports by officials of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), with specific discontent directed towards NPC President, Samson Deen, whom protesters accused of overstaying in office.

The demonstrators' march to aimed to draw attention to these issues and prompt swift action from the authorities.

Upon receiving the petition, the Clerk to Parliament and Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Select Committee on assured the protesters that the leadership would thoroughly examine the concerns raised. They pledged to take appropriate measures promptly to address the grievances and revitalize para-sports in the country.

Simultaneously, leaders of the Rescue Para-Sports group engaged in discussions with the Director and leadership of the of Ghana (NSA). During the meeting, documents were submitted, and a comprehensive dialogue ensued regarding the issues raised in the petition.
