Deplorable Bonuama roads hinder delivery of quality healthcare services - Health Director

Mr. Emmanuel Badiena, the District Health Director of Wassa Amenfi Central Municipality in the , has highlighted the detrimental impact of inaccessible roads on the quality of healthcare services in Bonuama.

Speaking at the donation ceremony of an ultra-modern ambulance, health screening exercise, and water storage plant by Kasapreko Company Limited and German Development Cooperation to the Bonuama community, Mr. Badiena emphasized the dire condition of the road leading to the Bonuama Polyclinic. Despite the polyclinic's state-of-the-art medical equipment and services, the unmotorable 15-km road has hindered thousands from accessing essential healthcare services, especially during emergencies.

Mr. Badiena called upon the government to intervene and address the road infrastructure challenges to facilitate easier access to healthcare in the district. He also urged the community to utilize the facility effectively by attending regular checkups and availing themselves of various healthcare services.

Dr. George Benneth, the Medical Superintendent at the Bonuama Polyclinic, echoed Mr. Badiena's concerns, emphasizing the critical need for road improvements to ensure efficient healthcare delivery, particularly in emergency situations. He expressed gratitude to Kasapreko Company Limited and German Development Cooperation for their donation of a new ambulance, which would enhance the clinic's services.

Mr. Vicent Ackah, the Assemblyman for the Anyinabrima Electoral Area, echoed the sentiments regarding the poor state of roads in Bonuama and surrounding areas. He emphasized the necessity for the government to prioritize road construction to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the community, especially with the establishment of the modern polyclinic.

The collective appeal from healthcare officials and community leaders underscores the urgent need for infrastructure development to enhance healthcare access and improve the overall well-being of residents in Bonuama and neighboring communities.
