Dr. Samuel Okoe Amanquah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpone-Katamanso, has disclosed that the Assembly undertook 35 road projects within the municipality in 2023, aimed at improving the free movement of people, goods, and services.
Funding for these projects, Dr. Amanquah revealed, came from a combination of sources, including Internally Generated Funds (IGF), the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), and nine other Ghana Roads Funded Projects, which were in various stages of completion.
During a general meeting of the assembly, Dr. Amanquah outlined that the road improvement initiatives encompassed reshaping, re-gravelling, and spot improvement, as well as the construction of slabs and culverts. The continuous investment in infrastructure projects, he emphasized, was geared towards enhancing the livelihoods of the people of Kpone-Katamanso.
Highlighted areas where road and minor drainage works were carried out included Green Hill Area, Gbetsile, Bethlehem-Saki, Naanoman, Bawaleshi, Saaduasi, PS Global, Kpone, Zenu, Saasabi, Kubekro, and Oyibi, among others.
Despite the completion of these roads, Dr. Amanquah acknowledged that the Urban Roads Department was reassessing some of them for corrective action due to deterioration, particularly with the onset of the rainy season.
Additionally, Dr. Amanquah mentioned ongoing collaboration with the Department of Urban Roads for the construction of bridges at various locations, aimed at addressing flooding challenges during the rainy season.
He also highlighted other completed projects in 2023, including a two-storey police station at Oyibi and the construction of a Community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Nmlitsakpo.
Mr. George Nuertey, an Assembly member for the Hebron electoral area, commended the MCE and the assembly for their efforts in improving roads and undertaking other developmental projects in the area, underscoring the commitment of representatives towards fostering development in their respective communities.
