Former President Mahama leads NDC delegation to pay respects to late Sunyani Paramount Chief

Former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (), Mr. , led a delegation from the party's to pay their final respects to Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, the late of .

Accompanied by national and regional executives, members of , parliamentary aspirants, and party faithful, Mr. Mahama expressed condolences and mourned the loss of the esteemed .

Addressing attendees at the final funeral rites, Mr. Mahama praised the strong relationship between the late chief and the . He highlighted the enduring bond that spanned administrations from former President Jerry John Rawlings through his own tenure until Nana Nkrawiri's passing.

Reflecting on their relationship, Mr. Mahama recalled Nana Nkrawiri's appointments to various positions, including Chairman of the Board of Community Water and Sanitation by late President Rawlings and chairmanship of the regional Lands Commission, emphasizing his contributions to the NDC.

Mr. Mahama lamented the neglect of road projects initiated in the Municipality during the late paramount chief's era since the NDC left office approximately eight years ago. He pledged to address and complete all abandoned road projects once the NDC assumed office in 2025, expressing confidence in the party's ability to secure victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.

As a token of respect, the NDC flagbearer and the party donated Ghc 100,000, packs of bottled water, assorted drinks, schnapps, and energy drinks in honour of the late chief.

In a similar gesture, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, founder of the , and members of his movement joined the Chiefs and people of to mourn the late paramount chief, contributing Ghc 10,000, schnapps, assorted drinks, and packs of bottled water to the traditional council.

During the fourth day of the seven-day funeral rites, members of the council of Zongo Chiefs in the region paid their respects, joined by representatives from various organizations including the regional Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority, , Ghana Prisons, Ghana Fire Service, Centre for National Culture, Sunyani Garages Association, , Bono Queen Mothers Association, and members of the general public.
