An Accra High Court handling the murder case of J.B. Danquah Adu, the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, has acquitted and discharged Vincent Bossu, the second accused person. Presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, the court ruled on a submission of no case, stating that “no case has been made against Bossu.”
Bossu was standing trial alongside Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Dondon, the first accused person, on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. While Bossu was acquitted and discharged, Asiedu is facing charges of murder and robbery.
The court's decision came after the conclusion of the cross-examination of Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustus Nkrumah, the case investigator, who was subsequently discharged by the court.
During the hearing, Mr. Yaw Dankwah, defence lawyer for Bossu, prayed the court to make a submission of no case on behalf of his client. He argued that the prosecution had failed to prove any case against Bossu beyond a reasonable doubt. The court agreed, finding that the prosecution had not made a sufficient case against the second accused person, leading to his acquittal and discharge.
However, in the case of Asiedu, the court determined that the prosecution had successfully made a case against him. As a result, Asiedu was ordered to open his defence and file any witness statements and additional persons he wished to call in the matter.
The trial has been adjourned to March 22, 2024. Asiedu stands accused of involvement in the murder of the late MP at his residence in Shaishie, Accra, in February 2016.
