15-year-old pupil drowns in Dwahyen River  

A tragic incident occurred at the Dwahyen River in Takyiman New site, where a 15-year-old Junior High School () three pupil of Blessing Academy lost his life by drowning. According to Mr Emmanuel Amankwah, the Head Teacher of the school, the pupil had sought permission to buy food outside the school premises on Saturday afternoon.

However, upon reaching the bridge over the river, the pupil encountered friends who were swimming in the river and was invited to join them. Unfortunately, he drowned after entering the river, and despite efforts by his friends to rescue him, they were unable to do so due to their own struggles in the water.

Despite the efforts of good Samaritans and a visit from the Denkyemuoso Police Command, the body could not be retrieved from the river until the following day. Nana Afriyie Takyi, Nifahene of Atwima, performed a libation ceremony at the river to aid in the recovery of the body, which was eventually found at the riverbank and taken to the (KATH) for autopsy.

In response to the tragedy, Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, urged parents to ensure their children's safety and advised private schools with boarding facilities to prioritize the well-being of their students. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of vigilance and safety precautions, especially around bodies of water.
