Albert Kwabena Dwumfour elected to Steering Committee of Federation of African Journalists

Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has secured a prestigious position as a member of the Steering Committee of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ). The election took place virtually on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, during the 5th Delegates Congress of FAJ, the Pan-African regional organization of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

The announcement of Mr. Dwumfour's election was made in a press release issued by the GJA, as confirmed by Kofi Yeboah, the General Secretary of the association. The press release was subsequently shared with the Ghana News Agency.

According to the statement, the newly elected nine-member leadership of FAJ will serve a three-year tenure. Mr Omar Faruk Osman of the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSJ) assumes the role of President, with Mr Zied Dabbar of Tunisia serving as Vice President, and Ms. Maria Luisa Rogiero of Angola appointed as Honorary Treasurer.

The remaining members of the Steering Committee include Mr Erick Oduor of Kenya, Mr Jean-Claude Coulibaly of Cote d'Ivoire, Mr Sadig Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim of Sudan, Mr Mohammed Et-Talbi of Morocco, and Ms Obam Mejo Marion of Cameroon.

Expressing gratitude for the support received during his election, Mr Dwumfour extended his appreciation to all individuals within Ghana and abroad who contributed to his success.

During the FAJ Congress, Mr Dwumfour extended a warm invitation to delegates to attend the 3rd Africa Media Convention scheduled to take place in Accra in May 2024. He assured attendees of a memorable and enriching event.
