Ghanaian lightweight boxer Jonathan Tetteh, affectionately known as ‘Worldwide', faced disqualification from the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers due to failing to meet the weight threshold in his category.

Tetteh, scheduled to compete in the 80kg weight category, exceeded the weight limit by 0.60 kg, weighing in at 80.60 kg, thereby rendering him ineligible to participate in the preliminaries. As a result, his German opponent, Schumann Kevin Boakye, advanced to the next round via walkover.

Tetteh's disqualification narrows Ghana's representation in the qualifiers, leaving the nation with four remaining boxers vying for a spot at the upcoming Olympics.

Among the hopefuls, Theo Allotey secured victory in his initial bout, while Samuel Takyi, also known as the ‘Ring Warrior,' aims to overcome his Japanese adversary in pursuit of Olympic qualification.
