Ministerial meeting strengthens Morocco-GCC partnership

A ministerial meeting held on Sunday in Riyadh between the member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Kingdom of underscored the deep-rooted brotherhood, coordination, and solidarity ties between HM King Mohammed VI and His brothers, the GCC heads of State.

Attended by Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, alongside Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the GCC member States, the meeting aimed to bolster the strategic partnership between the two parties, aligning with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI and His brothers, the GCC heads of State.

This gathering reaffirmed the robust foundations of the strategic partnership established between and the GCC countries, initiated during the Morocco-GCC Summit in Riyadh on April 20, 2016.

The meeting provided an opportunity to evaluate the outcomes of the strategic partnership and explore avenues to further enhance collaboration in line with the aspirations of HM the King and His brothers, the GCC leaders. Additionally, the parties consulted and coordinated their positions on regional issues, particularly efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.

Minister Bourita emphasized the significance of the meeting, highlighting the productive partnership initiated through the common determination of HM King Mohammed VI and His brothers, the GCC heads of State. He emphasized that the gathering facilitated a comprehensive review and consultation on regional situations and challenges.

Bourita underscored the exceptional relations between Morocco and the GCC countries, based on genuine brotherhood ties between HM the King and His brothers, Their Majesties, Highnesses, and Excellencies, and the GCC Heads of State. He lauded the cooperation and consultation between the two parties as a model for Arab-Arab relations.

Referring to the 2016 Riyadh Summit and HM King Mohammed VI's address on that occasion before His brothers, the GCC Heads of State, Bourita noted that it laid the groundwork for the political vision and strategic perspective of the partnership. He highlighted the significant progress in Morocco-GCC relations since 2011 and advocated for advancing towards broader horizons in the future.
