Kokrokoo Charities Foundation donates incubator to Ho Teaching Hospital

The Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, a non-governmental organization (), has donated a third incubator to the Paediatrics and Child Health Department of the Teaching Hospital in the as part of its “Project 100” initiative. This latest donation adds to the two incubators previously provided by the Foundation in 2018, bringing the total number of incubators donated to the hospital to three. Overall, the Foundation has donated 55 incubators to various hospitals across the country.

The newly donated incubator will enhance the hospital's capacity to provide optimal care for preterm babies, who are born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. In addition to the incubator, the Foundation also presented two fridges, sanitary tissues, scraps, crocs, cover coats, and mobile phones to the hospital.

Dr. Richard Bright Danyoh, Head of the Paediatrics and Child Health Unit at the Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that the additional incubator and other items would bolster their ability to deliver better services to preterm babies. He noted that the hospital records an average of 250 to 300 preterm births annually and highlighted the positive impact of the incubators on the survival rate of preterm babies, especially those born below 28 weeks.

Dr. Danyoh appealed to the Foundation and other benevolent individuals and institutions to consider establishing a hostel to accommodate mothers of preterm babies, who often have nowhere to stay during their waiting periods for their incubated infants.

Mr. Kwami Sefa Kayi, Founder and CEO of the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, expressed optimism about achieving the long-term vision of acquiring 100 incubators to aid healthcare delivery in the country. He thanked the partners and friends who supported the acquisition of the latest incubator, emphasizing the satisfaction derived from saving the lives of preterm babies.

The Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, established by Mr. Kayi, aims to identify and address critical social needs in Ghana and address emerging development challenges. Through initiatives like “Project 100,” the Foundation has made significant contributions to neonatal care across the country, saving many lives in the process.
