Ghana U-20 football team Black Satellites receives cars, bonds, and cash for FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph

President John Evans delivered on his promise to the , honouring their historic victory at the U-20 Cup. The team secured a remarkable 4-3 victory against , becoming the first African side to lift the trophy since the championship's inception in 1977.

For this historic achievement, President Mills announced a comprehensive package worth 750,000 US Dollars. The package includes a brand new Toyota Corolla Saloon Car for each of the 21 playing members, along with an investment bond worth 10,000 Ghana Cedis. This bond is set to mature to an impressive 163,000 Ghana Cedis after 15 years.

Dr. Valerie Sawyer, Deputy Chief of Staff, represented the President in presenting keys to the Toyota 1.6 Saloon Cars to each player. Head coach Sellas Tetteh and Jordan Anagbla, Chairman of the Management Committee, were also gifted a brand new Toyota 1.8 Saloon car.

The package's first segment involves the car registration, customised with each player's jersey number. Additionally, Gemini Life Insurance Company (GLICO) will provide insurance coverage for each vehicle.

Dr. Sawyer outlined the second segment, where 10 officials from the technical and management committees will have their 5,000 US Dollars package upgraded to a brand new Kia Picanto vehicle for each official. The cars for these officials will be presented in due course.

Furthermore, Dr Sawyer handed cheques totalling 187,000 Ghana Cedis and 10,000 US Dollars, representing donations from institutions and the general public to the (GFA) for the Black Satellites team.

Certificates for the 10,000 Ghana Cedis investment bond, expected to mature to 163,000 Ghana Cedis in 15 years, were presented to each player. Dr. Sawyer emphasized that each beneficiary could cash in on 100,000 Ghana Cedis in case of force majeure (ill health, death, or ).

The Deputy Chief of Staff encouraged the players to remain focused and level-headed in pursuing future goals. Kwesi Nyantakyi, GFA President, praised the government for fulfilling its promise, describing the value and magnitude of the presentation as unprecedented in Ghana's soccer history. He emphasized its positive impact as a morale booster for the younger generation interested in football and sports in general.
