Nana Elluo Panin III, Chief of Nsuansua and Kyidomhene of the Wiawso Traditional Council has urged the National Media Commission of Ghana to intervene and address the recent comments made by Captain Smart, also known as Blessed Godsbrain Smart, on the creation of the Western North Region.
Captain Smart, the host of the Maakye Show on Onua TV, allegedly referred to the establishment of the Western North Region as a fruitless venture by the government.
The traditional council expressed its disappointment over the remarks, emphasizing that the region is rich in natural resources, including Gold, Bauxite, and cocoa. They deemed the characterization of the region as “useless” as deeply unfortunate.
Furthermore, the council highlighted the positive impact of the region's creation, stating that it has brought development closer to the people and reduced the need for traveling long distances to Takoradi for official documentation.
In response to the comments made by Captain Smart, the Nsuansua Chief announced that they have taken measures to bar any reporter or reporters affiliated with Media General (the parent company of Onua TV) from operating in the region.
