The family of 22-year-old Victor Kungmaa is pleading with the Ghana Police and Armed Forces to increase border security in order to protect Ghanaians following the death of their relative at the Burkina Faso border.
The deceased was allegedly shot by unidentified persons he met on Sunday, April 16 for money that was owed to him, following an argument between the two parties.
According to the uncle of the deceased, Albert Kungmaa Ziem, the family is devastated by the incident.
He said, “The family is devastated because this was a very young promising man who we believed would have been able to save the family. We requested for the body for burial, but the police say they want to do a few things, but it's a sad moment for the family.”
The incident has raised concerns about the security of the country's borders with neighbouring countries, and the family is urging government to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of Ghanaians.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet released an official statement on the incident, but investigations are said to be ongoing.
