Africa Prosperity Dialogues to focus on value addition for increased intra-continental trade: Ghana News

The second edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues, scheduled from January 25 to 27 in Aburi, , will emphasize value addition to natural resources as a key driver for enhanced intra-continental trade.

The summit aims to bring together business and political leaders, academia, and development partners to formulate practical strategies for increased productivity.

Organized by the Africa Prosperity Network and the Secretariat of the (), the summit will be attended by 15 Heads of States and Governments, over 80 sector Ministers from six economic communities, more than 100 top industries and financiers, and around 800 decision-makers.

Thematic areas for the 2024 Africa Prosperity Dialogues include agriculture and food sovereignty, natural resources and value addition, manufacturing, infrastructure and ICT, finance and investment, and transport and logistics.

Mr. Njack Kane, CEO of Ghana Prosperity Network, highlighted the summit's goal of ensuring tangible outcomes to advance the implementation of , emphasizing the theme: “Delivering prosperity in Africa: Produce, add value trade.” The summit's results will be presented to the (AU) for consideration.

Mr. Gabby Otchere Darko, Founder of Africa Prosperity Network, underscored the importance of the private sector driving AfCFTA's implementation in collaboration with governments. He urged a shift in the narrative to focus on the continent's prosperity.

Mr. Silver Ojakol, Chief of Staff at the AfCFTA Secretariat, emphasized the need for improved collaboration between business and political leaders to enhance productivity, value addition, and intra-continental trade.

The AfCFTA Secretariat aims to translate the dialogues' outcomes into actionable decisions, aligning with the AU's goal of lifting 100 million people in Africa out of poverty.
