Meehiboug youth appeal for support to build football field for community development: Ghana news

The youth of Meehiboug, a suburb of Zanlerigu in the District of the Region, are calling for assistance from philanthropists to construct a dedicated football field.

Currently, the community utilizes the football field intended for the pupils and staff of Gundoug Primary and Junior High Schools, which is in poor condition and poses risks to users.

Mr. Eric Dok, a member of Meehiboug Youth Association, appealed the 14th annual inter-community football gala held at Meehiboug.

He highlighted how the shared field affected the quality of football and other activities in the area, posing threats to players.

Mr. Dok emphasized the positive impact of the association in fostering unity and peaceful coexistence over the 14 years of its existence.

“The association, over the years, has benefited us as a people and as individual members. It has contributed positively to our social life and economic development and has enhanced the unity among us to live in harmony,” he stated.

Mr. Dok expressed concern that the poor state of the field hindered the association's plans to involve more teams and called for support from individuals and organizations interested in youth development.

Mr. Isaac Wulug, elected assembly member of the Zanlerigu-Dagliga Electoral Area, commended the youth for their consistent efforts in uniting communities through football.

Mr. Tetteh Zure, the Constituency chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (), advised the youth to remain focused and not politicize their activities in their quest for support.

Mr. Charles Taleo Ndanbon, the New Patriotic Party's Parliamentary candidate for the Nabdam constituency, praised the youth for fostering unity and peace through football games. He encouraged them to persevere despite challenges.

In the culminating match of the football gala, Zoogo Football Club secured victory by defeating the host community's Estate Lions one goal to zero.

Zoogo Football Club received a cash prize of GH₵1000, a trophy, a set of jerseys, and a football.
