Spain booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over France, ending Les Bleus’ hopes of reaching a third consecutive final.
Luis de la Fuente’s side took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty after Lamine Yamal was fouled by Lucas Digne inside the box. It was Oyarzabal’s fifth goal of the tournament.

France created early chances through Kylian Mbappé, but Spain’s defence remained solid, while goalkeeper Unai Simón made an important intervention to keep the score level before the break.
France suffered another setback when defender William Saliba was forced off with an injury in the first half.
Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute as Pedro Porro combined with Dani Olmo before calmly finishing past Mike Maignan. Lamine Yamal later had a goal ruled out for offside.
Despite France’s attempts to respond, Spain’s defence held firm to record its sixth clean sheet in seven matches at the tournament.
The victory sends the reigning European champions into only the second FIFA World Cup final in their history. Spain will face either England or defending champions Argentina in Sunday’s final.
