The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has met the management and staff of Wesley Girls‘ High School, led by Headmistress Mrs Evelyn Nana Efua Assan and the President of the Old Girls Association, Mrs Harriet Wereko-Brobby, to discuss preparations for the school’s upcoming 190th anniversary celebrations.
The meeting also focused on the importance of strengthening science education for girls, with the Vice President highlighting past initiatives aimed at improving science facilities in girls’ schools.

She referenced the construction of science laboratories at Wesley Girls’ High School and other institutions, noting that the project was part of efforts initiated under President John Dramani Mahama to enhance science education for female students.
Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang also emphasised the need to recognise the contributions of all individuals who support the functioning of schools, including security personnel, drivers, cooks, cleaners, and administrative staff.
She stressed that these workers play a vital role in maintaining school operations and should be considered in educational planning and development initiatives.
She commended the management, staff, and Old Girls Association of Wesley Girls’ High School for their commitment to upholding the institution’s tradition of discipline and academic excellence.
The Vice President expressed confidence that the school would continue to produce young women who will contribute meaningfully to national development as it marks its 190th anniversary.
