According to the Minister, the NIA has evolved from what he described as a conceptual initiative in 2006 into a resilient biometric identity system supporting national security and expanding access to essential services.
He noted that the Ghana Card now plays an important role in facilitating access to banking, healthcare, telecommunications and other public services while supporting digital governance and national development.
The anniversary event also highlighted the NIA’s contribution to building an integrated national identity system in Ghana over the past 20 years.
