The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Ghana, has called for increased utilisation of cashew apples to expand agro-processing and economic growth.
Deputy Minister Sampson Ahi made the call at the Regional Cashew Apple Valorisation Conference and Exhibition held in Accra on April 30, 2026.

He said Ghana must move beyond exporting raw cashew nuts and develop an integrated value chain focused on processing, branding, and market access.
According to him, the cashew apple, often left as waste, has potential for products including juice, concentrates, animal feed, and cosmetics.
He noted that weak linkages between agriculture, industry, and trade have limited value capture in the sector.
The conference, organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit with support from the Ghana Tree Crop Development Authority and co-funded by the European Union, brought together policymakers, private sector actors, and development partners.
The Ministry said initiatives such as the Feed the Industry Programme are aimed at strengthening agro-industrial linkages and ensuring a reliable raw material supply.
Participants are expected to develop solutions on collection, processing, financing, and market access to support the commercialisation of cashew apple products.
