The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has engaged stakeholders and community members in the Ga West Municipal Assembly to strengthen community participation in efforts to reduce maternal deaths.
The engagement formed part of the Greater Accra Regional tour under the Maternal Mortality Action and Response Programme (MMARP).

The meeting brought together the Municipal Chief Executive, traditional and religious leaders, women’s groups, Civil Society Organisations, community members and the Municipal Health Management Team to discuss the role of communities in promoting timely access to quality maternal healthcare.
Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah also undertook working visits to the Kotoku Health Centre and Ahiabukope CHPS, where she interacted with health workers and traditional leaders to assess service delivery and discuss measures to improve access to basic healthcare in the municipality.
The engagements provided a platform for stakeholders to share their perspectives, identify practical, community-led solutions, and strengthen collaboration to address factors contributing to maternal deaths.
Participants stressed the importance of collective action to ensure that every pregnant woman has timely access to safe and quality maternal healthcare and returns home safely with her newborn.
