Fire Service intensifies safety education ahead of firefighters’ day

The Ghana National Fire Service has intensified fire safety education in the Ashanti Region ahead of International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD).

The exercise, led by the Boamang Fire Command, covered the Afigya Kwabre North District and Konongo-Odumasi Municipality through house-to-house visits, community and market engagements, and media outreach.

Fire officers educated residents and church congregations on causes of fires, including electrical faults, unattended cooking, and improper handling of LPG, and outlined preventive measures such as switching off appliances and owning fire extinguishers.

Practical demonstrations were conducted to improve preparedness, while emergency contact numbers were distributed.

The Service also promoted the “One House One Fire Sticker” campaign to strengthen fire safety awareness in homes, workplaces, and communities.
