Ablakwa meets King Charles III at St. James’s Palace

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has met with King Charles III during a visit to St James’s Palace in London.

The brief but symbolic encounter saw the Ghanaian minister exchange warm greetings and pleasantries with the British monarch as part of engagements aimed at strengthening ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Hon. Ablakwa described the moment as an honour, noting the friendly atmosphere during the interaction with the King. He also revealed that the monarch expressed admiration for Fugu, the traditional smock widely associated with northern Ghana.

Fugu, known for its distinctive handwoven fabric and cultural significance, has increasingly gained international recognition as a symbol of Ghanaian heritage and craftsmanship.

The meeting forms part of the minister’s broader diplomatic engagements in the United Kingdom aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade, and deepening cooperation between the two countries.

Ghana and the United Kingdom maintain long-standing diplomatic ties, with both nations continuing to collaborate in areas including trade, education, security, and cultural exchange.
