Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly reschedules National Sanitation Day to February 28

Kumasi, 24 February 2026 -The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a change in the date for the upcoming National Sanitation Day exercise. The clean-up activity, originally scheduled for Saturday, 7 March 2026, will now take place on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Assembly’s Public Relations Unit, the rescheduling was necessitated by the 69th Independence Anniversary celebrations set for Friday, 6 March 2026.

The adjustment is intended to avoid a clash between the two national events and ensure full public participation.

The statement was issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and circulated to all media houses.

The Assembly is urging residents, schools, and the business community ,who traditionally take part in the monthly clean-up exercise,to take note of the new date. As usual, the sanitation exercise will commence at 6:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon.

To facilitate the smooth conduct of the exercise, commercial vehicles will not be permitted to operate within designated operational areas during the stated period.

The affected areas include Bantama Market, Racecourse Market, and the stretch from Komfo Anokye Roundabout to Bekwai Roundabout, extending through Sofoline Interchange to Abrepo Junction and back to Komfo Anokye Roundabout.

The Assembly expressed confidence that residents, commercial drivers, corporate bodies, and the general public will comply with the directive and actively participate in the exercise to promote environmental cleanliness in the metropolis.
