reaffirms its commitment to improving the health and well-being of communities within its operational areas, pledging to diligently implement healthcare interventions outlined in its 10-year plan.

Ms. Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei, the Social Development and Gender Superintendent at , emphasized the company's unwavering dedication to healthcare initiatives during a free health screening exercise held in New Edubiase and its surrounding communities in the to commemorate Malaria Control Day.

Collaborating with partners including GIZ, Otumfuo Foundation, AGA Health Foundation, AngloGold Malarial Control Programme, and the Edubiase Divisional Council, residents underwent screenings for various health conditions such as malaria, high blood pressure, , and dental healthcare, receiving free treatment and medication.

Nana Yaa Kyei highlighted the significance of AngloGold's malaria control program, initiated in response to high mortality rates attributed to malaria in the area. Through indoor residual spraying, the program has significantly contributed to malaria prevention, benefiting over 1.2 million Ghanaians annually across 16 districts in the Ashanti, , and East regions.

Mr. Robert Mensah, the Adansi South District Director of Health Services, commended AngloGold for its interventions, noting a substantial reduction in malaria cases within the district. He emphasized the importance of community sensitization programs to promote a clean environment and prevent mosquito breeding, a primary cause of malaria transmission.

Oguahyia Oduropanin Birikorang I, Chief of Edubiase, emphasized the role of environmental cleanliness in disease prevention, highlighting efforts by the Traditional Council to organize clean-up exercises and eradicate mosquito breeding sites. He urged community members to integrate environmental cleanliness into their daily lives to safeguard against diseases.

The collaborative efforts between AngloGold Ashanti and its partners underscore the company's commitment to promoting community health and well-being, demonstrating proactive measures to combat malaria and other health challenges in the region.
