A harrowing incident unfolded in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Bono region, over the weekend as a mother and son narrowly escaped death in a Benz bus crash. The incident occurred around 2330 hours on Saturday, April 13, 2024, close to the Dormaa District Police headquarters.
The mother and son were passengers on board the Benz bus, which was loaded with plantains and travelling from Dormaa-Ahenkro to Sunyani when the accident transpired. The bus collided with a motorbike, causing it to somersault.
Fortunately, while the mother, son, driver, and motorrider sustained various injuries, they have been receiving treatment at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital and are reportedly responding well.
According to an eyewitness interviewed by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the driver's attempt to overtake the motorbike led to the loss of control and subsequent crash. Additionally, the bus collided with an electric pole, which was brought down by the impact. Fortunately, bystanders were able to rescue the victims and transport them to the hospital for medical attention.
