The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) has implemented a test serialisation process for students in technical and vocational institutions who are participating in the 2023 May/June Certificate II Examinations.
Test serialisation involves generating different versions of the same questions, with variations in the positions of test items, options, and keys on the question papers for each candidate.
This measure aims to prevent or minimize issues of cheating and question leakage during examinations.
Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, Director General for CTVET, announced this initiative during a press conference in Accra, highlighting its importance in ensuring fairness, test security, and the integrity of certificates.
He explained that test serialisation allows for testing students with different versions of the same set of questions and facilitates the administration of identical test items at different examination centres.
Dr Kyei Asamoah also provided details about the number of candidates participating in the 2023 examinations. A total of 32,402 candidates are taking part, comprising 23,990 males and 8,412 females.
He further outlined the distribution of students across different program categories, including Diploma, Technician Part 1, Diploma in Business Studies (DBS), Certificate II-Intermediate, Technician Part 2, Technician Part 3, and advanced.
Additionally, Dr Kyei Asamoah mentioned that the Commission is revising the grading system for the Certificate II Core and Elective examinations.
The objective is to align the grading system with other examination bodies like the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and facilitate the smooth transition of technical students to tertiary-level studies.
