Aflao traditional leader engages GoldBod to strengthen collaboration in gold sector

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has reaffirmed the importance of partnership with traditional authorities following a courtesy visit by Torgbui Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V of the Aflao Traditional Area.

The visit, which took place at the offices of GoldBod, focused on strengthening collaboration between traditional leadership and institutions responsible for regulating and developing Ghana’s gold industry.

Discussions during the engagement highlighted the critical role chiefs and local authorities play in promoting responsible mining practices, particularly within their communities.

Both sides emphasized the need for stronger alignment to address challenges such as illegal mining, environmental degradation, and revenue leakages.

GoldBod officials noted that working closely with traditional leaders is essential to advancing reforms aimed at improving transparency and traceability within the gold value chain. These efforts are expected to enhance accountability while ensuring that communities benefit more directly from gold-related activities.

Torgbui Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, for his part, reaffirmed the commitment of traditional authorities to support initiatives that promote sustainable mining and protect community interests.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts to build inclusive partnerships that drive long-term value creation in Ghana’s gold sector, while balancing economic development with environmental and social responsibility.
