The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed as false and misleading a social media publication alleging that Dominic Bonsu Ventures, whose proprietor was described as a former bodyguard to GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Board.
In a statement issued on August 3, 2026, GoldBod said Dominic Bonsu has never served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to Hon Gyamfi and denied claims that it had lost or advanced GH¢200 million, or any amount of money, to Dominic Bonsu or his company.

The Board explained that the licence of Dominic Bonsu Ventures was suspended for suspected breaches of its licence terms and the GoldBod Trading Directives in accordance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
It added that following investigations and enforcement action, Dominic Bonsu was arrested and remanded into lawful custody by the High Court in Accra, where legal proceedings are ongoing.
GoldBod urged the public to disregard the claims and rely only on information published through its official communication channels.
It also called on media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publication and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Ghana’s gold trading laws fairly and professionally.
