Mr Adams highlighted that the tournament forms part of a broader initiative to grow flag football in Ghana, which has reached over 30 schools since 2022. He praised the NFL delegation and federation officials for integrating teacher training and establishing a sustainable talent pipeline. “We appreciate what you are doing and want you to do more. Please know the Ministry is ready to support your efforts,” the Sports Minister stated.
Ghana is the first African country to host a structured NFL FLAG programme, with backing from professional players Brian Asamoah and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah of the Philadelphia Eagles, who are promoting grassroots American football across the nation.
The initiative underscores the country’s growing commitment to expanding sports opportunities at the school level while nurturing young talent for the future.
