Sports Minister Kofi Adams has dismissed reports that Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz earns $100,000 a month, clarifying that the Portuguese coach receives a monthly salary of $80,000.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM Sunrise, Adams said the speculation surrounding Queiroz’s salary was inaccurate.

“Carlos Queiroz earns $80,000 a month, not the $100,000 that had been speculated,” he said.
Queiroz was appointed in April on a four-month contract after the dismissal of Otto Addo, with the immediate task of leading Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Under his leadership, Ghana beat Panama 1-0, drew 0-0 with England and lost 2-1 to Croatia before qualifying for the Round of 32 as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
The Black Stars’ World Cup campaign ended with a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the knockout stage.
Queiroz has been praised for improving the team’s defensive organisation and guiding Ghana back to the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
Reports indicate the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Sports are considering offering the 73-year-old a new two-year contract as the Black Stars prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September.
