The commendations followed a statement by Mr Ernest Henry Norgbey, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, who lauded the players, technical team, and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation for their efforts in earning Ghana a spot in the upcoming tournament to be held across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Lawmakers from both sides emphasised the importance of teamwork and patriotism, noting that the Black Stars’ success should inspire greater investment in sports infrastructure and youth development nationwide.
MPs also urged Ghanaians to set aside political and ethnic differences and rally behind the team.
“This is a time to come together as one person, one nation, behind one team,” one MP declared.
Parliament pledged its full support to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to ensure the team’s readiness for the World Cup. They further called on corporate Ghana to enhance sponsorship and logistical backing for the national team.
