The Minister said the former Black Stars captain would help encourage Ghanaians to visit tourist sites across the country while also promoting Ghana internationally.

“We want him to encourage at least one million Ghanaians every year to visit tourist sites and learn about each other’s culture,” Dr Awal said.

He added that promoting domestic tourism would support local economies and create jobs, while Asamoah Gyan’s global connections would help market Ghana as a peaceful and attractive destination for international visitors.

For his part, Asamoah Gyan expressed excitement about the new role and pledged his commitment to promoting Ghana’s tourism sector.

The former captain said he had always been passionate about serving the nation and was ready to begin work as a Tourism Ambassador.

“I feel very good about being part of tourism. I have always been a patriotic citizen. I am here to serve the nation, work starts now and I can’t wait to start,” he said.
