The Shai Hills Resource Reserve at Doryumu in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region recorded more than a 100 per cent increase in tourist arrivals in 2022, generating revenue of over GH¢1 million.
The reserve welcomed 50,260 visitors during the year, comprising 45,590 Ghanaians and 4,670 foreign tourists, compared to 21,149 visitors in 2021, made up of 18,471 locals and 2,678 foreigners.

Park Manager, Prince Anane Agyei, said the reserve exceeded its 2022 target of 35,000 visitors by more than 40 per cent, with revenue ranging between GH¢800,000 and over GH¢1 million.
He attributed the impressive growth to management strategies aimed at promoting domestic tourism, following lessons learned from previous challenges in the tourism sector.
