Antoine Semenyo Overtakes Tony Yeboah to Become Ghana’s Second-Highest Premier League Scorer

Antoine Semenyo has written his name in Ghana’s football history books after overtaking Tony Yeboah to become the nation’s second-highest scorer in Premier League history, following a stunning brace for Bournemouth in their 3-1 comeback win over Fulham on Friday night.

The 25-year-old forward scored his 25th and 26th Premier League goals, moving two ahead of Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah. Semenyo’s double also took his season tally to six goals, placing him second only to Erling Haaland (8) in the current scoring charts.

In addition to his goals, Semenyo registered an assist, bringing his total assists this season to three, just behind Jack Grealish’s record.

Semenyo has now featured in 88 Premier League matches, compared to Yeboah’s 47 appearances for Leeds United between 1995 and 1997.

Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew remains Ghana’s all-time Premier League top scorer with 42 goals in 305 appearances over 11 seasons. Despite the gap, Semenyo’s efficiency stands out; he averages a goal every three matches, while Ayew scores roughly once every seven games.

Top Ghanaian Premier League scorers:

  1. Jordan Ayew – 42 goals
  2. Antoine Semenyo – 26 goals
  3. Tony Yeboah – 24 goals
  4. Jeffrey Schlupp – 22 goals
  5. André Ayew – 21 goals

Jeffrey Schlupp, who won the 2016 Premier League title with Leicester City, remains the only Ghanaian champion among the top five.

With his form this season, fans are beginning to ask the big question:
Can Antoine Semenyo catch Jordan Ayew?
