The BoG revoked the licence with immediate effect on July 14, 2026, citing multiple regulatory breaches, including issuing electronic money without sufficient cash backing and failing to comply with regulatory directives.

In a statement, Zeepay acknowledged the concerns arising from the decision and assured customers, employees, agents, merchants and partners that it is committed to managing the process responsibly.
The company said it will continue to work constructively with the Bank of Ghana while maintaining open and transparent communication throughout the process.
Zeepay added that further verified updates will be communicated through its official channels as they become available.
