The Minority Caucus in Parliament has decided to boycott the Ad-hoc Committee investigating the January 30 disturbances at the Appointments Committee, citing the need to await the Speaker of Parliament’s response to their memorandum before taking further action.
In a memo dated February 10 and addressed to the Committee’s Chairman, Emmanuel Bedzrah, the Minority clarified that their decision should not be interpreted as reluctance to engage with the probe but rather as a commitment to due process and fairness.

“Pursuant to this, and given the significance of the issues raised, the Minority Caucus considers it prudent to await the Speaker’s response before taking any further steps in relation to the Committee’s work,” the statement read.
The Minority insists that their concerns must be addressed to uphold the credibility and impartiality of the investigation. They expressed confidence that the Speaker would handle the matter in a way that maintains the integrity of the Committee’s work.
“We trust that the Speaker will address these concerns in a manner that upholds the integrity of the Committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to a resolution that ensures confidence in the Committee’s proceedings,” the memo, which was also circulated to the media, added.
The boycott raises questions about the future of the Committee’s work, as the Minority remains firm in their position until the Speaker provides a response.
