The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has removed former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta from its list of wanted persons after he confirmed a definite date for his return to Ghana.

Ofori-Atta was declared wanted on February 12, 2025, after failing to provide a reasonable timeframe for his return, despite being informed that he was under investigation for suspected corruption and related offences. The OSP had directed him to appear in person for questioning but noted that he had remained outside the country indefinitely.

However, on February 18, 2025, Ofori-Atta, through his lawyers, formally communicated his intention to voluntarily return to Ghana on a specific date. The OSP deemed this timeframe reasonable and subsequently rescheduled his appearance for questioning, leading to his removal from the wanted list.

The Special Prosecutor has cautioned that should Ofori-Atta fail to return as promised or miss the newly scheduled session, he will be reinstated on the wanted list and considered a fugitive from justice.
