President John Dramani Mahama has called on African leaders to tackle corruption, which he said deprives nations of resources needed for development.
Speaking at the Presidential Session of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 in Accra, President Mahama stressed the need for peace and security, stating that economic growth is impossible in times of conflict.

“This is a call to action,” he said. “Africa‘s time is now, and the decisions we make must go beyond resolutions—we must act with urgency, determination, and a shared vision for prosperity. Let us break down barriers and build an Africa that is strong, self-reliant, resilient, and globally competitive.”
Quoting Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he added, “The forces that unite us are intrinsic and greater than the superimposed influences that keep us apart.”
President Mahama commended the Africa Prosperity Network for organizing the dialogues and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting future summits. He described the conference as a testament to Africa’s collective commitment to economic transformation and global competitiveness.
The Africa Prosperity Network, a non-profit organization, facilitates the Africa Prosperity Dialogues, fostering partnerships among political and business leaders, civil society, and academia. It was founded to advance the vision of ‘The Africa We Want’ as outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063, with a focus on economic integration and prosperity.
Other leaders who participated in the session included President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo and President Azali Assoumani of the Comoros.
