The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented the first batch of replacement passports to victims of the June 29, 2026 floods in parts of Accra under a special intervention to replace lost or damaged passports free of charge.
The presentation, held on July 17, 2026, was led by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Idrissu, on behalf of Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

She said the Ministry had received about 500 applications following a public announcement on July 3 and that the 100 passports presented constituted the first batch, with additional batches to be issued after ongoing verification.
Ambassador Idrissu said the initiative, undertaken as part of the Ministry’s corporate social responsibility, reflects the government’s commitment to supporting citizens affected by the floods and assured applicants whose passports are yet to be issued that processing is continuing.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Richmond Debrah thanked the Minister and the Ministry’s staff for the intervention, describing it as a timely gesture that eased the financial burden of replacing lost travel documents and restored hope to affected families.
