During the investiture ceremony, Bishop Dr Mensah Otabil, Chancellor of the Central University, charged the new Vice Chancellor to lead a transformational agenda aimed at producing responsible, disciplined, and visionary graduates for national development.

Bishop Otabil noted that the university was founded on Christian values, and as such, leadership must remain grounded in moral discipline and service to humanity.

“As you take over the reins of leadership, let transformation guide your work,” he urged.

He further emphasised that the goal of the university was not only to produce graduates but also to raise men and women who would lead with integrity and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Chancellor commended Prof. Puplampu for his exemplary leadership and his contributions to the growth of the university over the years, praising him for guiding the institution through challenging times and strengthening its academic and administrative structures.

In his inaugural address, Professor Samuel Kwesi Dartey-Baah, the newly inducted Vice Chancellor, expressed deep gratitude to the Chancellor, Governing Council, and the university community for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to lead with a renewed sense of purpose under the theme “Building Legacies and Leading with Vision.”

He stated that his administration would focus on repositioning the university as a centre of academic excellence, anchored on research and credible data to inform policy and practice.

“We shall strengthen our research base, enhance teaching and learning outcomes, and ensure that Central University continues to shine as a faith-based institution producing transformational leaders,” he said.

Prof. Dartey-Baah further assured the university community of his commitment to deepening Christian values, ensuring discipline, and promoting an environment where both staff and students could thrive spiritually and academically.

He emphasised his vision to build legacies that would outlive his tenure and make Central University a model of Christian higher education in Ghana and beyond.

In a goodwill message, Professor Bill Buenor Puplampu encouraged his successor to continue advancing the vision of academic excellence while focusing on the holistic development of students.

“Leadership in academia is not an easy task, but with teamwork, innovation, and reliance on God, you will succeed,” he advised.

The colourful induction ceremony, held at the Miotso campus, brought together members of the University Council, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
