Y’ello Ladies Network of MTN Ghana holds breast cancer awareness health walk in Accra

Accra, Ghana – The Y’ello Ladies Network of MTN Ghana has organised a health walk on breast cancer awareness in Accra, reaffirming its dedication to women’s empowerment, workplace diversity, and public health advocacy.

The event drew hundreds of MTN Ghana employees, partners, and health advocates, all dressed in pink-themed apparel and carrying messages promoting early detection and hope. It also aimed to raise GH¢100,000 to support local charities dedicated to breast cancer education and treatment.

Ms Antoinette Kwofie, Chief Finance Officer of MTN Ghana and Chair of the Y’ello Ladies Network, said the initiative embodies the network’s mission to inspire, guide, and empower women within and beyond the organisation.

“Today, we are not only raising awareness about breast cance, rthe leading killer of women globally, but also reminding ourselves to stay proactive about our health. The Y’ello Ladies Network is proud to champion this cause while creating a community where women support one another to grow, learn, and lead,” she stated.

Launched in March 2025 during International Women’s Month, the Y’ello Ladies Network has quickly become a cornerstone for female leadership and wellness development within MTN Ghana. The network provides mentorship, leadership training, and health initiatives to strengthen women’s participation in the company’s success.

Ms Kwofie highlighted that since its inception, the network has hosted several programmes focused on workplace well-being, leadership skills, and women’s health, offering safe spaces for open dialogue.

“Sometimes in male-dominated industries like ours, women can feel overlooked. That’s why we’re intentional about building confidence, encouraging leadership, and reminding every woman that she has a place at the table,” she said.

Mr Abdallah Ibrahim, Acting Chief Human Resources Officer at MTN Ghana, lauded the Y’ello Ladies Network for promoting inclusion and gender diversity.

“At MTN, diversity and inclusion are not just slogans but strategic goals. We are creating an environment where everyone, including women and people with disabilities, can thrive and reach their full potential,” he emphasized.

He revealed that female representation at MTN Ghana has grown from 38% to 43%, with a target of 50% by 2026. This progress, he noted, is driven by deliberate recruitment, training, and promotion efforts under MTN’s graduate and national service programmes.

Mr Ibrahim urged male colleagues to continue supporting the network, noting that gender balance benefits both the company and national development.
