The Special Anti-Galamsey Task Force at Manso Adubia has seized two excavators during a targeted operation at the Dwendwenase Forest Reserve in the Ashanti Region.
According to a police statement issued on Sunday, the operation was led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Bawah Abdul Jalil after intelligence suggested that some Chinese nationals had invaded the reserve and were engaging in illegal mining. A team of 37 personnel, using six service vehicles, moved into Dwendwenase, a suburb of Juaso in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

On arrival, the suspects fled, abandoning two excavators. While one of the machines was faulty and could not be started, the other was successfully loaded onto a low-bed carrier for relocation.
The statement added that further intelligence led the team to Atta Ne Atta, a nearby village, where another excavator had been concealed in a cocoa farm. The operator had disconnected some parts to prevent their removal, but the task force’s technical team managed to restart it and load it onto the carrier.
Both excavators were transported to the task force’s base at Patase for safekeeping and further action.
