Trade and transport ministers visit injured traders, renew commitment to year-round tomato production

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and the Minister for Transport, Bukare Mikpe, on Monday, 23 February 2026, visited two Ghanaian tomato traders who survived a recent attack in Burkina Faso.

The ministers, accompanied by the Deputy Trade Minister and senior officials of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, called on the injured traders at the 37 Military Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The two survivors , a male and a female ,sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack, which occurred a few weeks ago. Both remain on admission but are reported to be responding to treatment.

The visit aimed to commiserate with the victims, assess their condition, and encourage them as they continue their recovery. Speaking to the media after meeting the traders, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare described the incident as unfortunate and deeply distressing.
