Ghana National Gas Company and Ghana Grid Company have announced a planned shutdown of the Gas Processing Plant at Atuabo to complete critical system restoration works.
In a press release dated April 19, 2026, the companies said the shutdown will take place from midnight to 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, to enable the installation of a new Burner Management System (BMS) controller following a major fault that caused complete damage to the existing system.

They indicated that preparatory works for the replacement are about 90 per cent complete.
The companies said measures have been put in place to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe and to minimise the impact on consumers.
They assured the public of their commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable power supply and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
