The Chief stressed that the measure is to protect children from risks such as abduction, exploitation and accidents, while ensuring they have adequate time for rest and study.
The festival, which drew thousands of residents, featured Obirikitibi cultural performances, artistic displays and a football gala that highlighted the area’s cultural vibrancy.
He called on parents and guardians to take full responsibility for enforcing the directive, describing it as a shared obligation to secure better opportunities for children’s development.
The initiative has received broad endorsement from parents, educators and community leaders, who view it as a practical step toward strengthening safety and discipline among young people.
In a separate appeal, Degbengyoo Obirikitibi urged residents of Nkwanta South to prioritise peace amid ongoing tensions that have led to loss of lives and displacement.
He warned that conflict brings no victory to any side and called on those instigating unrest to desist.
The Paramount Chief expressed readiness to participate in peace talks and encouraged all parties to embrace dialogue in pursuit of a lasting solution.
