Kingdom Concepts Consult (KCC) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the annual Media, Peace, and Security Initiative, a programme aimed at promoting responsible and conflict-sensitive journalism across the sub-region.
A release copied to the Ghana News Agency said the partnership aligns with KAIPTC’s strategic objective of deepening partnerships to advance peace and security in Africa.

It reflects the growing urgency to address misinformation, disinformation, and fragile relationships between the media, security agencies, and communities.
According to the statement, the collaboration seeks to institutionalise best practices in media ethics, enhance dialogue between journalists and security actors, and establish a framework for evidence-based reporting that supports peace and stability through training and capacity building.
At the signing ceremony in Accra, Mrs Princess Sekyere-Bih, Director of KCC, stressed the need for stronger ties between media professionals and security institutions.
She explained that the initiative was born out of years of observing communication gaps that often amplify tensions and undermine public trust.
“This partnership marks an important step toward empowering the media to contribute more meaningfully to peace and stability,” she said.
She added that by equipping journalists with practical skills and providing structured engagement with security agencies, both organisations aim to promote accuracy, trust, and responsible reporting in environments vulnerable to misinformation and conflict.
Air Commodore David Anetey Akrong, Commandant of KAIPTC, said the partnership directly advances the Centre’s mandate and long-term vision. “As an institution that seeks to be the leading and preferred international centre for training, education, and research focused on ensuring a peaceful and secure Africa, this partnership directly supports our mission,” he stated.
Both institutions will jointly implement the Media, Peace, and Security Initiative, offering targeted training for media and security personnel across the sub-region. The programme will equip participants with practical skills in conflict-sensitive reporting, ethical journalism, and peacebuilding.
KCC noted that the project will also foster structured engagement between media and security agencies, promote evidence-based knowledge sharing to counter misinformation, and reinforce digital security for journalists and media institutions.
KCC specialises in research, strategic communications, media training, and programme implementation. KAIPTC is recognised as a leading ECOWAS Training Centre of Excellence in conflict prevention, management, and peacebuilding.
