Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has officially received United Nigeria Airlines’ inaugural flight operating on the Accra–Abuja–Lagos route, marking another milestone in regional air connectivity.
The aircraft was welcomed with a symbolic water cannon salute performed by the Rescue and Firefighting Service of GACL.

Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of GACL, described the commencement of flight operations on the route as a testament to the growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation sector.
She noted that the new service aligns with efforts to position Ghana as a preferred aviation hub in West Africa, offering passengers more travel choices and enhanced connectivity among key regional cities.
“This marks the beginning of a new era of convenience and efficiency in regional travel,” Mrs Opare stated. “We extend our sincere appreciation to United Nigeria Airlines for their confidence in the Ghanaian market and to all partners who supported this milestone.”
The launch event attracted dignitaries and government officials from both Ghana and Nigeria, underscoring the significance of the partnership in strengthening bilateral and economic ties.
