The Catholic Diocese of Ho has commemorated the 10th Episcopal Anniversary of Most Reverend Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Bishop of Ho and Vice President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference. The event, themed “A Decade of Shepherding God’s Flock: Looking into the Future as Pilgrims of Hope,” drew clergy, religious leaders, government officials, and the faithful from across Ghana to celebrate a decade of pastoral leadership, spiritual growth, and community impact.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. John Doe Dormah, Vice Rector of St. Paul’s Seminary in Sowutuom, highlighted the shepherd’s role as a model of compassion, protection, and service, citing Psalm 23 and John 10:11. He noted that true spiritual leadership mirrors Christ’s example, emphasizing that shepherding is about care, sacrifice, and nurturing unity rather than control.

Fr. Dormah also reflected on contemporary challenges for the Church, such as internal divisions and the rise of superficial religiosity, urging believers to cultivate prayerful hearts and spiritual balance amidst life’s trials.
Under Bishop Fianu’s leadership, the Diocese has seen remarkable growth in pastoral, educational, and healthcare initiatives. The expansion includes new parishes, educational institutions like Bishop Herman College, OLA Senior High School, and St. Mary’s Seminary, and healthcare facilities such as Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and St. Francis Clinic, which continue to serve the marginalised with compassion.
Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Affairs, representing the Chief of Staff, commended Bishop Fianu for his exemplary leadership, peacebuilding efforts, and national cohesion contributions. He announced a GH¢30,000 donation toward completing the Ho Cathedral project and encouraged corporate and individual support, noting that the Cathedral symbolises faith, unity, and heritage.
In his remarks, Bishop Fianu expressed gratitude to God, the clergy, and the laity for a decade of support, describing the anniversary as a moment of thanksgiving and renewed commitment to Christ’s mission. He urged continued leadership with compassion, humility, and hope, emphasising the Diocese’s ongoing mission to serve both God’s people and the nation.
The celebration concluded with music, dance, and prayers, reflecting a community inspired by faith, service, and a shared vision for the future under Bishop Fianu’s guidance.
