The Circuit Court in Berekum has issued an order restraining two individuals from conducting a scheduled funeral event, citing provisions under the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
The order, referenced CIRNO 0023781 and dated February 23, 2026, was issued on Friday, February 20, 2026, by His Honour Osei Kofi Amoako, Esq., Circuit Court Judge. The application was brought before the court by the Ghana Police Service.

The respondents, Yaw Sammordua and Abena Asiraa, have been restrained from organising and conducting the funeral rites of the late Nana Kofi Sono II and Nana Yaa Yaagwo Kakala II. The event had been scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The court’s decision followed the reading of an affidavit sworn by DSP Isaac Baffour Gyawu, Crime Officer at Berekum, in support of an ex parte motion seeking to prevent the event from proceeding. After hearing the applicant, the court granted the order.
According to the ruling, the restraining order will remain in force for a period of ten days from the date of issuance.
The order was given under the hand and official seal of the Circuit Court, Berekum, on February 20, 2026.
