The Association of Wives of the Bishops of the Internal Province of Ghana (IpG) has donated essential items to residents of Galibang in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region as part of its annual outreach programme.
Members of St. Veronica Anglican Church and surrounding communities received plastic chairs, school supplies, food items, toiletries, clothing and basic first aid medications aimed at supporting vulnerable families.

Speaking during the outreach, Mother Superior of the Association, Mrs Christiana Ben-Smith, wife of the Most Reverend Dr Cyril Ben-Smith, Archbishop of the Province of West Africa, said the wives of Anglican bishops complement their husbands’ ministry through both spiritual guidance and humanitarian service.
She explained that the Association introduced the annual outreach initiative to support the needy, widows and orphans across the various Anglican dioceses, inspired by the biblical example of Nehemiah in caring for those in need.
Mrs Ben-Smith noted that Galibang was selected because of its status as one of the most underserved communities within the Anglican Diocese of Tamale.
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tamale, Right Reverend Dennis Debukari Tong, said the predominantly farming community required support and described the initiative as part of the Church‘s mission to serve humanity in line with Christ’s teachings in Matthew 25.
Parish Priest of St. Veronica Anglican Church, Reverend Father Emmanuel Jekkan, expressed gratitude to the Association, describing the visit as historic and commending the bishops’ wives for extending practical support to the community.
